Brody Brill rolled games of 202 and 192, totaling a 394 series at Sunrise Lanes on Jan. 22, helping the Heath boys bowling team stay unbeaten in Licking County League play with a victory against Zanesville, 2,191-1,979.
Oliver Walton added a high game of 215 and series of 380, Kam Smith a high game of 216 and series of 376 and Keegan MacDonald a high game of 219 for the Bulldogs.
In the girls match, Kiersten Smith’s high game of 164 and series of 306 led Heath in a loss to Zanesville, 2,069-1,637.
Leala Bemus added a high game of 166, Hope Prouty a high game of 153 and Anita Valdez a high game of 150.
BOYS WRESTLING
Watkins falls at home
Maddox Meade rallied for a third-period pin at 165 pounds, highlighting Watkins Memorial’s dual against visiting Mount Vernon.
Ryan Noble added a win by pin at 106 and Gage Robinson a 12-3 win at 120 for the Warriors, who fell 55-22.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Heights wins at Lakewood
Darianna Barnes scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half, sparking Licking Heights in a 57-49 victory at Lakewood in LCL play.
Karsyn Johnson added 15 points, Layla Booth 13, hitting a trio of 3-pointers, and Kendyl Hunt 10, scoring 8 in the fourth quarter when the Hornets (10-4, 7-3) finally shook free.
Lyla Brunner racked up 27 points for the Lancers (7-9, 5-7), who trailed just 32-30 at halftime and 41-38 after three quarters. Jaylie Maas added 11 points.
SWIMMING
Mohler wins pair
Brothers Tyler Mohler and Tanner Mohler took the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle for the Licking Valley swim team on Jan. 21 during the Muskingum County meet at the Muskingum County Family YMCA.
Tyler Mohler touched in 22.67 seconds to win the 50 free, and Tanner Mohler was right behind (23.68). Tyler Mohler later added a second victory in the 500 free (5:18.79), and Tanner Mohler won the 100 backstroke (59.09) for the Panthers.
Newark’s Oliver Cody won the 200 free (2:01.20) and took runner-up in the 500 free (5:24.31).
In the girls meet, Newark’s Eliana Roberts won the 100 butterfly (1:10.10) to lead the Wildcats to a runner-up team finish. They totaled 66 points, trailing just Tri-Valley’s 114.
Roberts added a runner-up finish in the 100 back. (1:10.82), and Addison Cain took runner-up in the 100 free (1:04.38). Roberts and Cain also joined Isabelle Tracy and Meredith Pyle on the runner-up 200 medley relay (2:19.82), and Roberts, Cain, Tracy and Lauren Kosar took runner-up in the 400 free relay (4:32.25).
