Ohio State women’s basketball has started building its 2025-26 nonconference schedule, which will include a game against national power Connecticut.
The Buckeyes and Huskies are set to take part in a home-and-home series, with Ohio State heading to Storrs, Connecticut, this upcoming season and UConn coming to Columbus in 2026-27.
These will be the first regular-season matchups between the Buckeyes and Huskies since 2019. Ohio State upset UConn in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
The Buckeyes also announced they’ll be one of four teams competing in the Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, New Jersey, on Jan. 19. Ohio State opens the event against TCU.
UConn and TCU are expected to be top-25 teams. Both reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight last year. In 2024-25, the Buckeyes’ highest-ranked nonconference opponent was Stanford, which wasn’t in the top 25 at the time and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, Ohio State will be at the Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, for the second time in three years. Seven other teams are also participating in the event. The Buckeyes’ opponent has yet to be determined.
What does Ohio State’s 2025-26 Big Ten schedule look like?
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Big Ten changed the format of regular-season conference play, with each team facing the majority of the other teams in the conference only once and one designated conference opponent twice. For Ohio State, that opponent is Maryland.
