No. 3 Ohio State defeated Buffalo 4-0 on May 1 in the first round of the NCAA men’s tennis tournament.
The Buckeyes (30-4) will play California at 4 p.m. May 2 at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center, with the winner of the match advancing to next weekend’s Super Regional.
Ohio State advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time in the past 26 years.
In doubles, OSU got wins from Jack Anthrop/Bryce Nakashima and Nikita Filin/Brandon Carpico. Anthrop, Loren Byers and Filin won in singles. Aidan Kim, Preston Stearns and Alexander Bernard were all leading in second sets when the match was clinched.
California advanced by beating Kentucky 4-3.
