Ohio State football adds first commitment to 2029 recruiting class

Austin Miller, a widely sought-after wide receiver from Southern California, verbally committed to Ohio State on June 22. He announced the news on social media.

Miller is the first wide receiver to make a pledge to the Buckeyes since the hiring of Cortez Hankton, who replaced Brian Hartline as their position coach in January.

During Hartline’s seven years coaching the Buckeyes’ wide receivers, they stacked highly ranked pass catchers in each recruiting class.

Miller is part of the class of 2029 and received two dozen scholarship offers after breaking out as a freshman at Bellflower High School last year.

He was named a freshman All-American by MaxPreps after catching 35 passes for 609 yards and eight touchdowns and rushing for 883 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025. Though only 15 years old, he already has a lanky 6-foot-5, 200-pound.

Miller, who is the Buckeyes’ first commit in the 2029 class, made his commitment following a visit. He does not have a star rating as the major recruiting services have not released their rankings for the cycle.
