Marion Harding’s Trey Cady experienced big-time college basketball this winter as a member of the North Florida men’s team.
The 6-foot-8 guard/forward competed in 29 games and made three starts for the NCAA Division I program in Jacksonville that competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference with schools like Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Queens and Lipscomb.
Cady put up 13 points and five rebounds in the season opener at Florida, and he scored 14 points in a game at Gonzaga. At Dayton, he scored nine points and at Miami (Fla.) he scored six points. His season high was 22 points against Trinity Baptist and eight rebounds against Central Arkansas, the A-Sun regular season champ. North Florida finished the season 7-24 overall and 5-13 in the league.
For the season, he averaged 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds, while shooting 42 percent from the field, 34 percent on 3-pointers and 74 percent from the foul line. After the season, Cady entered the transfer portal and, as of press time, his next destination was unknown.
