CHILLICOTHE — No injuries were reported when a trash truck caught on fire on Yaples Orchard Drive on July 15.

The report from the Chillicothe Fire Department states that crews were alerted to the fire around 7:10 a.m. on July 15, 2026. First responders were on scene minutes later. The incident narrative states that the fire appeared to start in the cab of the vehicle. The city worker stated that the fire was first seen between the cab and the trash bin.
First responders spent less than an hour at the incident site.
Jeff Carman, Director of the city’s Safety& Service Department, states that there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
