Monroe is looking for a change in his surroundings.
The five-year-old pit bull-mix is the News Journal Pet of the Week. He came to the Richland County Dog Warden & Adoption Center in August.
“He’s a little skittish in his kennel,” Dog Kennel Tech Breanna Wise said. “He’s started to get a little kennel crazy, so we moved him to where he’s not around too many other dogs.”
Monroe is a handsome dog with his brindle coloring. He followed the command “sit” before Wise bounced a tennis ball for him to fetch.
“He’s very sweet, very lovable, very playful,” she said.
Monroe greeted two visitors at the News Journal in a calm manner, wagging his tail happily.
Monroe has not been tested with dogs or cats and would need to do that before adoption.
The fee to purchase Monroe, which includes a neuter, rabies vaccine, 2026 license and microchip, is $199. Kennel hours at the dog shelter are 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday. The kennel is closed Mondays for deep cleaning.
The address is 810 N. Home Road. People can also visit the shelter’s Facebook page or email dogs@richlandcountyohio.gov.
