Millersport's new Little Miss Poppy Queen honors veterans

On Thursday, April 16, Kenley Smith, a Junior Member of the Auxiliary, was crowned our new Little Miss Poppy Queen for 2026 by her big sister, who is the outgoing Poppy Queen for 2025, Kohen Smith. Kenley is 10 years old and the daughter of Kyle and Megan Smith.

Her dad is an Army veteran out of Fort Campbell, Tennessee. Kenley is an Honor Roll student at Millersport Elementary School. She is active in basketball and softball. Outside of school, Kenley enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach on vacation. Kenley is happy to be representing the Millersport American Legion Auxiliary as the 2026 Little Miss Poppy Queen.

The Annual Poppy Day will be May 2 in Millersport. In 1920, the Poppy was adopted as the official memorial flower to pay homage to the battlefields of World War I. Poppies are handmade by our Veterans and are never sold.

Contributions are devoted entirely to rehabilitation and child welfare efforts for Veterans and their families. Please come out and meet our new Little Miss Poppy Queen Kenley, at the Circle K. She will be handing out Poppies in remembrance of our Veterans. Several members and volunteers will be at the traffic light taking donations as well. All money donated to our Poppy Fund is spent to help Veterans and to show our appreciation for all they have done and still do to protect and serve our country.

May is the month they also have their “No-Bake Bake Sale.” This is one time you don’t have to actually bake and can still contribute to helping our Veterans. We also have dishcloths available for purchase from the Auxiliary. You can contact Liz Sanders, Unit 637 President at 614-562-7823 if you’d like to donate to the bake sale or purchase dishcloths.
