Neil deGrasse Tyson’s last trip to Columbus found the acclaimed astrophysicist searching for life in the universe. His next visit promises to be even more out of this world.
Tyson, who appeared at Mershon Auditorium in 2024, will return to the venue on March 25 to discuss “The Cosmic Perspective.” Tickets are now on sale.

Aside from Mershon Auditorium, Tyson’s other stops in Columbus have included the Palace Theatre in 2020 for a discussion on science in the movies.
Tyson has headed New York City’s world-famous Hayden Planetarium since 1996. The center is part of the American Museum of Natural History, where he founded the department of astrophysics in 1997. He has been a research associate in the department since 2003.
Hayden Planetarium was integral to igniting Tyson’s passion for astronomy at age 9, and he went on to take classes there as a high school student. Tyson credits his instructor with inspiring his signature use of insight and humor to convey science to others.
In addition to hosting the PBS “Nova” spinoff “NOVA ScienceNOW” from 2006 to 2011, Tyson hosts a weekly podcast, “StarTalk,” targeting listeners who never imagined they would like science.
He is the author of 15 books and recipient of 23 honorary doctorate degrees and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal.
