McCutchan, a three-star player and No. 44 in his class in Ohio by 247Sports, had 30 Division I offers and picked North Carolina over Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Purdue, Texas A&M, Kentucky and others.

The tight end helped lead Moeller to a 14-2 record and an OHSAA Division I state championship final. McCutchan, a 6-foot-5 tight end, caught 35 passes for 569 yards and seven touchdowns for the Crusaders in 2024. He broke through in a 35-30 win over Lakewood St. Edward on Oct. 19, catching three touchdowns in the final 18 minutes to comeback and beat the Eagles.

McCutchan becomes North Carolina’s 14th recruit to commit from the 2026 class and the first tight end.
