MASSILLON – The city had fun Aug. 9 as the community converged on downtown for the annual, family-friendly Fun Fest.
More than 100 area churches, businesses, nonprofits, safety forces and service organizations participated with giveaways, demonstrations, educational opportunities and entertainment. Booths will be set up on the Massillon Museum lawn, the municipal parking lot, and along First Street.
The event — organized by the Massillon Museum, Downtown Massillon Association and MCTV — featured inflatables, face painting and giveaways from school supplies to crafts to hygiene items. There also was a touch-a-truck and performances by the Massillon Tiger cheerleaders, YMCA gymnasts, square dancers, guitarist Katelyn Scott, Tiger Swing Band and majorettes, Up Stream Drifters and Jackson Steel Drum Band.
