Some residents across Marion County are without power Tuesday as temperatures reach more than 90 degrees.
FirstEnergy reported more than 700 residents lost power as of 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.
The National Weather Service reported the temperature in Marion County at that same time to be 94 degrees.
The power outage came after reports of internet outages around the city and county.
Downtown Marion, Inc., a nonprofit that helps develop businesses in Marion’s downtown, put out a statement on Facebook asking residents to check with business’s social media pages before visiting.
“Some businesses have unexpectedly closed due to lack of internet access, and many are now operating on a cash-only basis,” the Facebook post read. “We want to ensure your trip is worth it!”
The National Weather Service is forecasting rain and thunderstorms to hit Marion over the next seven days with temperatures reaching the high 80s or low 90s.
