There was some early mystery about what Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gifted his offensive linemen for Christmas.
But Burrow and his teammates have finally shattered the silence on the topic in a big way.
Burrow went big for his linemen, literally, with an eyebrow-raiser:
Fossils.
According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, Burrow invited teammates over to his house, where they picked from an assorted display of prehistoric fossils by order of arrival time and seniority.
Bengals offensive tackles Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarius Mims, for example, took home cave bear skulls.

“I think it speaks to his intelligence and interests and his desire to do something unique,” Bengals center Ted Karras said after choosing a wooly mammoth tusk, per Baby. “I thought it was really special.”
Typically, while quarterback gifts to linemen are an annual tradition that gets major highlights, they usually involve standard things like scooters or, as one player in the piece mentions, slushie machines.
Last year, Burrow got his linemen authentic samurai swords. This year, he went all out, creatively, in a different direction. It’s a gesture that speaks to the care and thought put into the process and is part of the reason he’s so beloved in the football realm, too.
