Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow really turned some heads at minicamp with his LSU comparison.
But it’s an idea starting to gain some traction.
It’s a common sentiment on social media, at least amongst Bengals fans.
And over at CBS Sports on a national scale, Tyler Sullivan likes the idea, too. That said, he provides some caution about being too literal with the comparison.
“If the Bengals were to match that comparison and mirror LSU in 2019, you’re not just talking about winning a championship,” Sullivan wrote. “You’re also running the table and sprinkling in an array of individual awards — like MVP — in the process. That’s where we get off the boat.”
So, maybe the direct one-to-one comparison is a bit much, of course.
But it’s hard to deny the vibes around the Bengals after the front office changed up how it operates this offseason. The roster looks good, to keep it simple, and there is an advantage to continuity with the same coaching staff in an AFC North that has three other teams starting over.
And hey, maybe it all doesn’t work out. But this sort of hype sure beats the distraction-filled offseasons, mostly due to contract drama, of the last few years, right?
