Alliance girl, 15, shot to death at city home

ALLIANCE − Police are investigating the June 19 shooting death of a 15-year-old girl in the 600 block of West Summit Street.

Capt. James Hilles said the girl was shot and killed by a 14-year-old boy with a Glock 9mm handgun inside a house. Police responded to a 911 call at 4:15 p.m.

The boy brought the gun to the girl’s house.

The names of the victim and alleged shooter were not released.

Hilles said the juvenile suspect and another boy initally claimed it was a suicide but said police detectives later gained a confession that said it was not.

He said detectives are investigating the shooting as accidental or reckless, pending further information.

“He pointed at her and pulled the trigger thinking it was unloaded, according to his confession,” Hilles said in an email.

Hilles said the boy faces a juvenile count of involuntary manslaughter and was transferred to the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center.

The other boy is not facing charges. No other information was available, as of 10:30 p.m.
