The Cleveland Guardians begin a three-game series against the division rival Minnesota Twins on Friday, May 8.
While it’s still very early in the MLB season, games against any American League Central opponent should carry more weight. No team in the AL Central has separated themselves from the pack to this point, so winning games against divisional opponents will be that much more important.
But for fans of either team hoping to tune in, they’ll need a different viewing means than their usual channels.

What’s the pitching matchup for Guardians vs Twins series opener?
Southpaw Parker Messick will be on the bump for Cleveland to open their series against Minnesota. In seven starts to begin the 2026 MLB season, Messick has been outstanding. He’s pitched to a 3-1 record and 2.40 ERA with a 0.92 WHIP (which ranks 8th in all of baseball).
For the Twins, 25-year-old lefty Connor Prielipp will take the mound. In three starts so far this year he’s 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA.
How to listen to the Guardians on the radio
The Guardians radio network airs on games locally on WTAM (1100-AM) and WMMS (100.7-FM). As always, Tom Hamilton and Jim Rosenhaus are on the call.
