The village of Brice, located in southeast Franklin County, has been an infamous speed trap for years. It recently came under fire by Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin for its use of automated cameras to issue thousands of speeding tickets as a civil offense.

Brice is doing it right

I read with interest about Columbus Council President Shannon Hardin’s ongoing feud with the village of Brice, a kerfuffle that stems from a speeding ticket Hardin was served by the village’s “camera police.” It’s a “speed-trap,” fumes our councilman.

Or maybe it’s that Brice takes its speed limits seriously.

But not all is lost, Mr. Councilman; if you want to speed and make noise, come over to our neck of the woods at Morse and N. High, where anything goes.

We got loud, we got fast, we got fast and loud. Better yet, not a cop is in sight.

So, don’t go after Brice, come over here where speeding is a lifestyle.

Americans, look in the mirror!

Re “Trump’s Iran threats should be the end of his presidency,” April 9: Columnist Rex Huppke writes about how President Donald Trump has made the U.S. into his own reality show. Huppke concludes that Trump’s behavior has lost the United State’s reputation as a reliable and moral leader. One might counter that a change in the presidency will correct most if not all of our American reputation abroad. The world knows that Trump is an aberration. Democrats and those who oppose MAGA are eager to get to the midterms. But Americans need to draw back and see what the rest of the world sees.

We elected Donald Trump to be president — he is a reflection of America. Our democratic process chose Donald Trump to be its national representative, and our Congress allows Donald Trump to act unchecked.

Donald Trump and MAGA illuminate an ugly part of American culture, which is now undeniable and can never again go unseen.

This is America!

History is repeating itself

Re “Poll: Support for Israel continues sharp decline among Americans,” April 10: George Santayana warned us that “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

I’ve recently seen photos of starving children in the news.

First: Masses of Palestinian children were shown after their homes were destroyed by a fascist-type Israeli absolutist dictator seemingly bent on genocide.

Second: Masses of Jewish children were shown after they were torn from their homes by a fascist-type German absolutist dictator also bent on genocide.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Is Benjamin Netanyahu showing his approval of Adolf Hitler’s treatment of the Jewish people?

This “originalist” Republican fully disapproves of our fascist-leaning POTUS supporting a fascist Israeli leader copying a fascist German leader’s genocidal actions.
