In a not-so-shocking turn of events, NFL insiders chatting with NFL owners and league sources continue to say a trade centered around Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson is a non-starter of a conversation.
The latest arrived Saturday morning from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who kept it short and sweet on that topic in a lengthy overall leaguewide column.

“The Bengals are still not planning on moving Trey Hendrickson,” Russini wrote.

Bengals fans understood this, of course, but it never hurts to get the idea out nationally, right?
Hendrickson and the Bengals agreed to a contract redo before the season. He wants to stay in Cincinnati. That redo didn’t include a no-tag clause, so the team retains a bunch of leverage and can use a franchise tag if necessary next offseason.
Whether things get to that point remains to be seen. But the Bengals are still in the hunt with Joe Flacco under center and reports that Joe Burrow is on track for a December return. The team wouldn’t likely consider a trade for Hendrickson ever, but that standings and quarterback situation officially shut it all down.
