Will Purdue football starting QB Ryan Browne play vs Rutgers?

WEST LAFAYETTE − On Monday, Purdue football coach Barry Odom called his starting quarterback Ryan Browne “doubtful” ahead of Saturday’s Homecoming game against Rutgers.

Saturday’s availability report countered that Monday projection.

Browne injured his left shoulder on an option keeper in the third quarter of last week’s 19-0 loss at Northwestern. He’s not listed on Saturday’s availability report and is expected to start against Rutgers.

Browne has thrown for 1,572 yards, 7 TDs and 7 interceptions through seven games this season and also has four TDs rushing and another receiving. Browne has started all seven prior games this season and two games in 2024.

For the first time this season, receiver De’Nylon Morrissette is listed as questionable. Morrissette was injured leading into the Aug. 30 season opener and hasn’t played this season.

Receiver Chauncey Magwood, tight end George Burhenn and safety Myles Slusher, who was injured last week at Northwestern, are out for the Rutgers game.
