Patriot fans are going to find out quickly what Ohio State fans have known for quite some time… Treveyon Henderson is a special player. Not only is he lightning fast and shifty, but he’ll put defenders on their backs with his blocking prowess.
Henderson put his speed and elusiveness on display in New England’s first preseason game while facing the Washington Commanders on Friday night. The former Buckeye running back stood at the goal line for the opening kickoff, where he fielded it inside the one-yard line and was off to the races. In the familiar No. 32, Henderson shot through a hole and cut back across the field, finding nothing but daylight ahead. He would barely be touched at all as he scampered 100 yards for a touchdown on his very first NFL play.
You can watch the spectacular return below.
Henderson looked explosive every time he touched the ball. He finished the night with 18 rushing yards on one carry and hauled in three receptions for 12 yards on top of the 100-yard kick return. It’s early, but Mike Vrabel and the Patriots look like they got a steal drafting Henderson in the second round. If he keeps this up, it’ll be hard to keep the former Buckeye running back off the field.
