Former Ohio State basketball players impressed with current team

The latest Ohio State basketball vets week is in the books, with head coach Jake Diebler and the current team welcoming in former Buckeye players and one coach back to the banks of the Olentangy to get in some work with the current team. Guys like Jared Sullinger, Greg Oden, E.J. Liddell, and even former coach Thad Matta took part in drills and shootarounds and came away impressed, or so it seems.

In fact, a recurring theme of more length, size, and skill seemed to permeate what was observed by the vets, and several of those former Buckeyes had some messages for all of Buckeye Nation. If you haven’t taken time to take in the short, just under two-minute video to see what guys who have been through the program and have gone on to bigger and better things have to say about the 2026-27 team, you’re in luck because we have it here for you.

It’s great to hear good things about what some of these former players see from the team. Let’s just hope it translates to the court when things really matter. Ohio State opens its season on Monday, Nov. 2, vs. BYU in Salt Lake City. Perhaps we should reserve judgment until then.
