Shemar Stewart and Dexter Lawrence have been linked ever since the Cincinnati Bengals traded the 10th pick for the latter.
It’s a numbers game in more ways than one.
Lawrence and Stewart made a deal about jersey numbers, letting the veteran get his traditional No. 97 from the second-year player. No major details leaked about what changed hands, though.
Details, though? That’s what Lawrence and Stewart were caught working through during an OTA session in Cincinnati this week.
Austin Briski of Fox 19 provided a look:
Just a little thing, but it’s cool to see Lawrence already taking some of the younger prospects on the defense under his wing and helping out.
When it comes to numbers, the Bengals are hoping that this type of mentorship and his on-field presence mean Lawrence helps guys like Stewart enjoy breakout seasons on an improved unit.
