LANSING — Police acknowledged on Tuesday, May 26 that one person died and four others were injured in a crash involving four vehicles near the intersection of Waverly and Holmes roads on the night of Saturday, May 23.
A man, 21, was dead at the scene of the 7:40 p.m. crash, and four other people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lansing police said in a Tuesday afternoon news release.
“Investigators believe a vehicle traveling northbound on Waverly Road collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Holmes Road, resulting in a crash involving multiple vehicles,” the release said.
Police had not released any information on the crash prior to Tuesday afternoon.

Officials released no other details Tuesday, including what might have caused the crash, other than to say investigators believe speed was a factor.
A spokesperson said she had no additional information when asked whether investigators believed street racing may have contributed to the incident.
