Northern Kentucky’s first medical cannabis dispensary is opening Feb. 7.
Qualified patients will no longer have to drive across the Ohio River to access medical cannabis, according to a news release from the Kentucky Cannabis Industry Alliance. Bluegrass Cannacare will open to the public at 10 a.m. Feb. 7.
Bluegrass Cannacare, located at 6809 Burlington Pike in Florence, is the seventh dispensary to open in Kentucky after Gov. Andy Beshear legalized medical cannabis effective Jan. 1, 2025. Cannabis consumption outside of the medical program remains illegal in Kentucky.
The bluegrass state’s medical cannabis programs allows qualified patients to buy regulated products for the following approved conditions: Cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy or any other seizure disorder, PTSD, multiple sclerosis, muscle spasms, spasticity, and cyclical vomiting syndrome or chronic nausea that has proven to be resistant to other medical treatments.
