Despite a 10-day break between its 1-0 win in Foxboro, Massachusetts over the New England Revolution and an upcoming trip to Montreal, it’s still been a busy week for FC Cincinnati as the second half of the MLS regular season begins.
On Wednesday, co-CEO Jeff Berding publicly announced that the team had made a “good offer” to Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller, who will leave his hometown club following the Club World Cup.
On Thursday, June 19, it was reported first by Argentinian journalist Cesar Luis Merlo that FC Cincinnati is set to sign 21-year-old attacker Ender Echenique of Caracas FC to a 4.5-year deal.
Echenique comes to FC Cincinnati via the MLS’ U-22 initiative, which allows clubs to sign three players who are 22 or younger to lucrative deals while reducing the risk of signing players who have yet to reach their prime.
In 19 total matches for Caracas FC this season (12 in Venezuela and 7 Sudamericana), Echenique has combined for seven goals and five assists.
