HARRIS TOWNSHIP – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Harris Township, Ottawa County.
Jeffrey Rollins, 52, of Port Clinton, was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King Classic. On Aug. 22 around 5 p.m., Rollins suffered fatal injuries as a result of a crash, the post reported. Rollins was not wearing a helmet when he crashed.
Rollins was traveling westbound on West Portage River South Road, west of Ohio 590, when he failed to properly negotiate a curve. Rollins lost control and went off the right side of the roadway, then struck the guardrail. Upon impact, Rollins was thrown from the motorcycle. Both Rollins and the motorcycle came to final rest on the north side of the roadway.
Neither alcohol nor drug use are suspected to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol release.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Harris Elmore Fire and EMS, Lucas County Coroner’s Office and Ken’s Towing.
