JACKSON TWP. – Dutch Bros Coffee is planning to open its first Stark County location.
Plans filed with the Stark Regional Planning Commission call for extensive site demolition and cleanup at the former Arby’s property at 4850 Everhard Road NW, and constructing a new building, with landscaping, drive-thru lanes and parking improvements.
Both the developer and the company that prepared the plans declined to comment. No official opening date has been announced.
Dutch Bros specializes in customizable hot, iced and blended drinks. Its menu includes coffee, protein coffee, iced drinks, teas, smoothies, sparkling sodas and Dutch Bros Rebel energy drinks. The company also offers rotating seasonal beverages.
Most Dutch Bros locations offer both drive-thru and walk-up service.
From an Oregon pushcart to a national chain
Brothers Dane and Travis Boersma founded Dutch Bros in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992 after leaving their family’s struggling dairy business.
The brothers began selling espresso from a pushcart near railroad tracks in downtown Grants Pass. As the business grew, they added carts, opened their first drive-thru shop and began roasting and sourcing their own coffee beans.The company’s name honors the brothers’ Dutch heritage.
Dutch Bros operates company-owned and franchised locations, although its recent growth has been driven largely by company-operated shops. It moved its headquarters from Grants Pass to Tempe, Arizona, in 2025.
Dutch Bros expanding in Ohio
Dutch Bros ended 2025 with 1,136 shops in 25 states, according to the company’s annual report. As of June 30, 2026, it had grown to 1,225 locations.
The company expects to open at least 181 shops this year as it works toward a goal of more than 2,000 locations by 2029.
Dutch Bros also plans to open its first Northeast Ohio location at the former Skyway Drive-In property in Fairlawn.Dutch Bros holds annual companywide fundraising days supporting food banks, youth organizations and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research and services. During some campaigns, the Dutch Bros Foundation donates $1 from every drink sold to participating organizations.
