Coshocton man dies after two-vehicle crash in Beach City area

BETHLEHEM TWP. ‒ A Coshocton man died as the result of injuries he suffered in a traffic crash at 2:56 p.m. May 25 at the intersection of state Routes 21 and 212, about two miles east of Beach City.

Alex McPeak, 28, died after being taken by air ambulance to Summa Akron City Hospital, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. His passenger was taken to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton.

The patrol said the collision occurred when McPeak, westbound on Route 212 in a Ford Escape, failed to yield at the stop sign when turning left onto Route 21. A white Chevrolet Silverado pulling a Jayco travel trailer northbound on Route 21 swerved left-of-center and hit the left side of the Ford. Both vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection, where the Ford struck a traffic sign.

The driver of the Silverado, Landri Jett, 19, of Doylestown, was not injured. One passenger was taken to Mercy.

The Strasburg police and fire departments, Bolivar Fire Department and Erie Valley Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.

Impairment is not suspected as a factor. All occupants were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
