Cincinnati weather: Flood watch in effect as severe storms arrive

A flood watch is in effect as storms move through Greater Cincinnati.

Showers and a few severe thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon on Wednesday, May 27, with wind being the primary hazard, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

A flood watch has been issued for Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana through Wednesday night.

Excessive rainfall and runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Rainfall totals could reach up to 3 inches.

The weather advises residents − especially in flood-prone areas − to be ready to act if flooding develops. Make sure to monitor the latest weather forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.

Temperatures will be in the upper 70s, with a high near 79.

Dry weather is expected from Thursday through early next week, with temperatures staying within a few degrees of normal, according to the NWS.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low of around 54. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Light northeast wind.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low of around 57.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
