Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball roster to date

Since the NCAA college basketball transfer portal opened on April 7, the Cincinnati Bearcats have lost 11 players, gained six, and have none from the 2025-26 roster.

Players have until April 21 to enter their names in the portal. From there, negotiations can linger.

Last year’s UC Bearcats didn’t get a commitment from Baba Miller until May 15. Gone in terms of eligibility from the Bearcats are Miller, Day Day Thomas and Jalen Celestine. However, there may be a sliver of hope with Miller, who has entered the transfer portal for a potential fifth year of eligibility, while simultaneously declaring for the NBA Draft. UC is not technically out of that picture, though it would be an expensive investment.

Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball roster to date

David Iweze, forward, 6-10, redshirt freshman, Utah State

Iweze was the first to commit to Jerrod Calhoun, having redshirted for him last season at Utah State. Iweze averaged 11 points and 7.3 rebounds per game at iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy in Lewisville, Texas. He was ranked the 35th-best center overall by 247Sports.

Myles Colvin, guard, 6-5, senior, Wake Forest, Purdue

Colvin was Calhoun’s first non-Utah State commit on April 10. Colvin averaged 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He played his first two seasons of college basketball at Purdue, including 12 minutes in the NCAA National Championship game vs. Connecticut in 2024.

Tyler Tejada, guard-forward, 6-9, senior, Towson

The 2025 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year averaged 17.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for Towson. Tejada averaged double figures in all three seasons with the Tigers. Tejada committed April 13.

Riley Allenspach, forward, 6-11, senior, George Mason, Samford

Allenspach averaged 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for George Mason in the Atlantic 10 last season after previously playing two seasons at Samford. Allenspach committed to UC April 13.

Eric Mahaffey, wing, 6-6, sophomore, Akron

Mahaffey played at Moeller High School for Carl Kremer, where he led the Greater Catholic League-South in assists during his senior season with the Crusaders finishing as state runner-up. At Akron, he averaged 7.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Zips with a high game of 20 points against Iona and a top rebounding performance of 13 against the Miami RedHawks. Mahaffey committed April 15.

Adlan Elamin, forward, 6-9, sophomore, Utah State

Elamin joins teammate David Iweze, having played for Calhoun’s 29-7 Aggies. At 6-foot-9 and 185 pounds, Elamin has been identified as an NBA prospect by some. He averaged 6.7 points and 3.1 rebounds this past season, shooting 30% from the perimeter, 83% from the line, and 44% overall from the field. He also had 26 steals and 16 blocks.

Trevian Carson, guard, 6-3, senior, North Dakota State

After appearing in the NCAA Tournament with North Dakota State, Carson committed to the Bearcats April 20. He averaged 11.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Bison and 2.9 assists. Carson shot 48% from the field, 37.5% on 3-point shots and 80.3% from the free throw line.

Carson’s season-high was a 29-point game against Drake, where he was 5-for-7 on 3-pointers. He also had a 19-point, 12-rebound effort against Northern Arizona. Twice against in-state rival North Dakota, Carson dished out seven assists.

Elijah Perryman, guard, 6-2, sophomore, Utah State

Perryman averaged 4.4 points per game for the Aggies, playing in all 36 games with one start for Jerrod Calhoun. He shot 44% from the field, 30% on triples and 80% from the free-throw line. Perryman was third on the team with 110 assists and had 28 steals. His best game of the season was a 16-point game with seven assists vs. Fresno State.

“Elijah has an incredible feel for a point guard,” Calhoun said. “There’s significant familiarity for him with our system and for our staff with his game. He sees the floor well and players love playing with him. Elijah can get downhill, play out of pick and rolls, and is a wonderful kid.”

Tylen Riley, guard, 6-3, senior, Tulsa

Riley signed with UC April 22 after taking visits with new Bearcats coach Jerrod Calhoun and at Oklahoma.

“Tylen is the ultimate competitor and just an unbelievable story from the time he enrolled in college a few years back to where he is now,” UC coach Jerrod Calhoun said. “He has shown significant growth and can do a lot of things on both sides of the ball. Tylen will light up a room and is a consummate winner.”

A native of Las Vegas, Riley averaged 15.0 points and 4.4 assists per contest, starting all 38 games this past season at Tulsa on his way to second-team All-American Conference honors and American Conference All-Newcomer Team laurels. Riley scored in double figures 31 times, leading the Golden Hurricane on 12 occasions, and posted eight games with 20-plus points. He led the American and ranked 11th nationally with 203 made free throws and ranked second in the conference in free-throw percentage at 87.1%.

Jayden Hastings, forward, 6-9, junior, Boston College

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward will be a junior. Hastings averaged 6.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Boston College last season while shooting 61.1% from the field. His 47 blocks would be three shy of what Thiam had for the Bearcats in 2025-26. He had two double-doubles for the Eagles last season with three 12-point games and a 10-point, 13-rebound game in an overtime loss to Syracuse.

Hastings signed with the Bearcats April 28.

Akai Fleming, guard, 6-4, sophomore Georgia Tech

Fleming committed May 6. The 6-foot-4, 184-pound guard averaged 10.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for Georgia Tech as a freshman, starting 22 of 30 contests. His high game was 20 in the non-conference schedule vs. Lafayette. In his final game for Georgia Tech, against Clemson in the ACC Tournament, he had 18 points and six rebounds.

Deshaun ‘Shaun’ Vaden, center, 6-11, junior, Mount Union

Vaden committed to the Bearcats May 15. UC hired Mount Union Purple Raiders coach Mike Fuline and the 6-foot-11, 210-pound Vaden is following him from Division III to the Big 12. At Mount Union, he had 102 blocked shots in 20 games. He averaged five points per game and 4.8 rebounds
