About 100 Alliance-area youngsters gathered along Kidwell Lake at Silver Park to enjoy a beautiful morning of fishing in the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival’s Fishing Derby.
The event includes children ages 4 to 12, who have two hours to catch fish.
When the young people catch a fish, it is measured, and winners are those with the biggest inch count total for the day’s catch. A separate prize goes to the person who catches the “big fish,” or the longest fish caught during the event.
Prizes are given to the top fishermen and fisherwomen in each age group – ages 4 to 6; 7 to 9; and 10 to 12.
