Looking for a job in Ohio? DeWine touts 1,600 new jobs. Here's where

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Monday announced eight development projects expected to create 1,618 jobs and generate more than $1.8 billion in investment across Ohio.

The projects span industries such as automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace and defense, data centers, and food production. State officials estimate the projects will add more than $133 million in annual payroll in cities including Columbus, Cincinnati, and several others across the state, according to the announcement.

The projects are expected to boost key Ohio industries, including automotive, healthcare, aerospace and defense, data infrastructure, and manufacturing.

What are the largest economic industries in Ohio?

The projects impact several of Ohio’s largest and fastest-growing industries. The largest industries by revenue in Ohio include property and casualty insurance, commercial banking, and hospitals, generating a combined $221 billion in 2026, according to an IBIS World industry report.

Manufacturing was the largest sector in Ohio’s economy, accounting for roughly 16% of state output in 2022, according to the state’s Department of Development.

Other growth industries include aviation and aerospace, food manufacturing, and battery production and semiconductor manufacturing, according to the Ohio Statewide Development Corporation.

How many jobs in Ohio? Ohio job numbers

Ohio reported roughly 5.6 million non-farm jobs in April 2026, according to recent Bureau of Labor Statistics data for the state. The list also shows a civilian labor force of 5.9 million.
