Cameron Mitchell Restaurants is going somewhere it has never been: Bexley.
There are plans for the Columbus restaurant group to open a new location of its Hudson 29 brand, billed as a “contemporary neighborhood dining experience,” in a new Main Street development called The Fitzgerald.
It will open in the spring of 2027, the company said May 28. After 33 years as a restaurant owner, the latest Hudson 29 will be founder Cameron Mitchell’s first restaurant in Bexley.
Hudson 29, which debuted in Upper Arlington in 2014 and expanded to New Albany a year later, serves a lunch and dinner menu of sandwiches and salads, steaks, ribs, seafood and sushi. Both locations also are open for Saturday and Sunday brunch.
David Miller, president and chief operating officer of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, said the company thinks Hudson 29 has “strong growth potential” and will open in Bexley with some changes in the design.
The restaurant will occupy 5,500 square feet with 178 seats on the development’s first floor. That includes 42 seats on a covered and heated year-round patio.
“We are so glad to have Hudson 29 in Bexley,” Frank Kass of Continental Development Ventures said in a news release distributed by the restaurant company. Continental is the developer of The Fitzgerald, a six-story, mixed-use building of restaurants, retail spaces, medical offices, apartments and a public parking garage.
It’s at 2200 E. Main St.
