The cafe inside the Ohio Statehouse will soon reopen with a new operator.
L.A. Catering, a division of LifeCare Alliance that already serves venues such as the North Bank Park Pavilion, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum and the Jeffrey Mansion, will take over the Capitol Café in mid-August, according to officials from both agencies. The exact opening date has yet to be set.
The Statehouse cafe, frequented mostly by tourists and employees of Ohio General Assembly offices, has cycled through several operators in the last four years.
House Taco, a business that started as delivery-only during the pandemic, took over from Milo’s Deli & Cafe in December 2021. Milo’s had run the cafe for 10 years.
After House Taco relocated in September 2023 to its own Downtown location at 79 S. Fourth St., the Capitol Café was run by Feed Your Soul Catering. That business left in June, and the cafe has been closed since.
Roberta Camp-Albert, spokeswoman for LifeCare Alliance, said the Capitol Café will retain its name with signage that reads: “Capitol Café brought to you by L.A. Catering and LifeCare Alliance.”
The catering division’s profits are all used by LifeCare Alliance to support programs that include home-health services and meal delivery.
Camp-Albert said breakfast and lunch offerings will include “fresh, locally inspired meals.”
L.A. Catering’s contract with the state includes catering services and bar operations for events, meetings and receptions at the Statehouse.
