The Cleveland Browns are entering training camp this week, and their quarterback battle will consume the attention of not just the local media, but the national audience as well.
With two names that generate a ton of newsworthy buzz, Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, looking to solidify their status as the starting quarterback in Cleveland, they are taking it in stride. In fact, the two quarterbacks presumed to be the frontrunners for the starting job under new head coach Todd Monken have been working out and training together with Browns’ receivers to build that offensive chemistry.
Hosting a football camp for 500 kids in the Cleveland community, Sanders took the time to talk a bit about his process this summer and his ongoing relationship with Watson.

Here is what Sanders had to say on the relationship that him and his competition have built over the offseason as they both prepare for the upcoming quarterback battle:
“I would say it’s the same thing that we’ve been saying from Day 1. We’re both trying to be the best version of ourselves we could be. So we’re not going to let anything get in between of that. So it’s a level of respect that we all in the quarterback room have for each other… And we’re not really emotional when it comes to things that we can’t control. We mainly focus on and thrive on getting better in the work every day. So if I like something he’s doing, I ask. If he likes something I do, then (he) asks. It’s conversation and that’s what’s most effective.”
At the end of the day, one of these guys has to seize the opportunity under new head coach Todd Monken. While the Browns are building chemistry in their quarterback room, does one of these guys have what it takes to grab the job by the horns and run with it in the 2026 regular season? Or will the Browns be right back to square one again next year looking for another franchise quarterback?
