Sharonville’s historical museum will have a new home after the city demolished its former location in June.
The Society of Historic Sharonville will relocate to a house at 3431 Cornell Road, just 0.2 miles from its old location on the downtown loop, according to a July 17 city press release.
The city is acquiring this new property and the church next door, Free Holiness Church of God. The acquisition is set to close in August, David McCandless, economic development director for the city of Sharonville, said in an email to the Enquirer.
The Free Holiness Church of God will relocate to the city’s former tax office on Chester Road. McCandless said the church mainly used the building that will house the museum for office space.
“It was largely a swap, but we agreed to $50,000 to help facilitate improvements the church wishes to make at the tax office,” McCandless said in an email.
The city did not announce an opening for the museum but said in the release the public can stop by the house during renovations.
The city demolished the Society of Historic Sharonville Museum the first week of June as part of its Downtown Loop redevelopment project, which aims to get more people downtown and spending money at local businesses.
The Enquirer reported that, because of the demolition, almost $250,000 worth of artifacts from the museum were left in storage in an old city building and the museum’s curator was looking for a new location.
