BOOM! Four-star Florida defensive end commits to Ohio State football

We’ve had a lot of Ohio State football news tidbits over the last few days, like uniform tweaks and the installation of new turf, but nothing on the recruiting front, really, until now.

On Sunday, 4-star defensive end Wyatt Smith committed to the Buckeyes, with Hayes Fawcett being the first to break the news. Out of the famed St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Smith is ranked as the No. 11 edge rusher and 78th total prospect in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He chose Ohio State over the likes of Missouri, Notre Dame, and Indiana.

Smith broke onto the scene after a junior year in which he was named a MaxPreps All-American by racking up 155 tackles that included 24 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. He comes from the same high school as Buckeye legends Joey and Nick Bosa.

Smith makes the 12th commitment to the 2027 class, one that currently ranks as the No. 9 class in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings, with plenty of time and work still to do.
