A citizen alerted police to the presence of the body at 4:35 p.m. He told a dispatcher that he found a body decomposing in the bushes, with a book bag and other items around it.

Police found the body in bushes on the Dueber Avenue side of the property. They reported that it is very decomposed. The body was clothed. A cell phone was next to it.

Canton police spokesman Lt. Dennis Garren said the body is not that of Ryan “JJ” Godbey, who is presumed dead after having last been heard from on June 20.
