The Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps kicked off its 2026 season with an exhibition at University of Mount Union with the annual Opening Night Community Celebration.
The Bluecoats conduct “spring training” for about six weeks in Alliance, where local residents get to enjoy the music throughout the daytime and in the evenings.
The June 27 evening event included the Bluecoats’ alumni group, Legacy Arc, and high school students from across the country who took part in The Blue Way Summer Arts Camp, a four-day program in which band members join the Bluecoats on campus for some intensive instruction and mentoring.
The Bluecoats move on this week to their competitive season, first with the July 2 MidCal Showcase in Camarillo, California. The group moves on to an event July 3 in El Dorado, California, and then a competition at Stanford University’s stadium in California.
Editor’s note: The Bluecoats’ spring training runs about six weeks at University of Mount Union, and the Blue Way Summer Arts Camp is four days. Incorrect information was in an earlier version of this story.
