Bloom-Carroll softball player Emma Brandt was selected by Dispatch.com readers as the athlete having the best individual performance in a team state championship in 2025-26.
Brandt went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored and pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks as the Bulldogs beat Louisville 10-1 for the Division III state title.
Brandt received 67.3% of the vote and was followed by Olentangy Orange football player Levi Davis, who received 17.8%, Big Walnut track and field athlete Jamier Brown (8.7%) and DeSales lacrosse player Campbell Heald (2.3%).
Also nominated were Danville softball player Addy Bocock, Hilliard Bradley softball player Sophia Lopez, Thomas Worthington field hockey player Sophia Borghese, St. Charles swimmer Jake Lloyd, Dublin Jerome soccer player Brady Delmore and Dublin Jerome golfer Brady Barnum.
Davis , the runner-up, completed 10 of 18 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 93 yards and a score on 14 carries in a 28-14 win over Cincinnati St. Xavier in the Division I state final.
Brown won the 100 and 200 meters and anchored the first-place 400 relay as the Golden Eagles shared the Division II state title with New Philadelphia. Brown’s 200 time and the 400 relay set OHSAA Division II and Division II state-meet records.
Heald, tied her own title-game record of seven goals, leading the Stallions to a 21-9 rout of Bay Village Bay and the team’s third straight Division II state championship.
Bocock pitched a four-hitter with 15 strikeouts and one walk as the Blue Devils defeated West Jefferson 2-0 in nine innings for the Division VI state title.
Lopez hit a solo home run in the first inning and the go-ahead two-run double in the top of the seventh as the Jaguars beat Lancaster 7-5 for the Division I state championship.
Borghese scored twice as the Cardinals defeated Upper Arlington 3-1 to capture their fourth straight state title.
Lloyd set a state record in the 50-yard freestyle, a meet record in the 100 breaststroke and helped the 200 free and 200 medley relays to state records, leading the Cardinals to a Division I title repeat.
Delmore scored twice in the second half as the Celtics dethroned six-time defending champion Cleveland St. Ignatius 3-2 (4-3 on penalty kicks) in the Division I state final.
Barnum shot a two-day 137 to earn individual medalist honors while leading the Celtics to the Division I state championship.
