Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow might attend World Cup soccer game

In a little over 25 minutes on Wednesday, June 17, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow touched on several topics at his Paycor Stadium press conference.

Having missed his scheduled appearance the day before to get in extra work, Burrow discussed “mean leadership” and being more vocal.

He talked about restructuring his contract so the team could have additional pieces, like Dexter Lawrence, whom he has hung around with since the 342-pound quarterback-chaser hit Cincinnati.

“Me and Dex have been kicking it a lot,” Burrow said. “Dex has been amazing at getting guys to build that off-the-field relationship you need.”

Then Joe talked about soccer.

“It was my first sport I ever played, but I switched quickly to baseball,” he said.

He doesn’t recall his position as he said he didn’t think there were positions when he was playing “swarm ball” in first or second grade.

Patrick Mahomes was at World Cup game in Kansas City. What about Burrow?

Lionel Messi had a hat trick for Argentina in their game vs. Algeria on June 16, but Burrow only saw one goal before nodding off to sleep.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in attendance with his wife Brittany. They are co-owners of the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League. Mahomes responded to Messi’s exploits on X, as did former Bengal Chad Johnson, saying, “Messi is Gods (sic) gift to the beautiful game.”

“I watch World Cup. It’s certainly exciting,” Burrow said when asked about following FIFA. “I’ll probably be … yeah, you’ll see me somewhere.”

Burrow didn’t divulge his destination, but the cameras seem to find NFL quarterbacks.
