The Cincinnati Bengals are gambling quite a bit on the young cornerback room in 2025 under new coordinator Al Golden.
Perhaps the biggest gamble of all at this point, though, is Cam Taylor-Britt.
CTB’s major struggles last year at a time he seemed poised to break out as a No. 1 corner position him as the nexus point for the spot on the depth chart.
As such, it’s always notable when he gets tabbed as a breakout candidate, this time from The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr.:
“He’s proven he can play at a high level for stretches of his career, but he’s been unable to find consistency. He was benched multiple times last year, but his energy, athleticism and playmaking showed up in the offseason program. He sounds and looks more like the confident player who emerged on the scene in his first two seasons and less like the embattled and confused corner who scuffled through the ugly 2024 campaign. It could finally be his year to become a true CB1.”

If Golden can help CTB get back on track, he remains a candidate for a major breakout, indeed. But Bengals fans can be forgiven for experiencing a little deja vu one year removed from similar ideas going public.
CTB is one piece of a bigger whole there. The Bengals have much invested in second-rounder DJ Turner, as well as former first-rounder Dax Hill, who looked promising last year briefly after his position change.
It’s CTB, though, who sits front and center as the perfect example of whether the Bengals got it right with the big coordinator change this summer, given his path traveled so far.
