Bengals' Evan McPherson reveals injury update

Of the many things that went wrong for the Cincinnati Bengals last year, the performance and injury woes for kicker Evan McPherson was a major point.

Back from injury and prepping for 2025, McPherson opened up about last year’s injury and how he’s changing things up to prevent further issues.

According to WLWT’s Charlie Clifford, McPherson told reporters that his official injury last year was to his torn adductor magnus.

“Some guys work out before games really getting their muscles firing and ready to go. I feel like I could use more of that,” McPherson said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Not fatigue your muscles before games and practice, but actually getting them woken up. It’s the balance. You have to find out what works best for you.”

Now 26 years old, McPherson adapting his approach in response to an injury is an encouraging sign for both player and team.

Whether the changes keep McPherson on the field at a better rate than last year remains to be seen, of course. But it’s all eyes on him at the kicker spot as he heads into the first year of his three-year extension signed in 2024.
