'Armed barricaded suspect' in standoff with Bucyrus police

East Warren Street in Bucyrus remains closed while police communicate with an armed suspect.

“He is barricaded in,” Bucyrus Law Director Brandon Gobrecht said. “So far, it’s contained. My understanding is that there’s no immediate danger.”

The incident began about 3:25 a.m. May 11.

“Heavy police presence remains in the area as officers continue to respond to an armed barricaded suspect situation,” the Bucyrus Police Department stated on social media.

The 900 block of East Warren Street and several surrounding roads are closed. The law director urged residents to avoid the area and to give the situation “a wide berth.”

“Let the police do their thing,” Gobrecht said.

Motorists are reminded to watch for police activity on neighboring streets.

“The safety of the public and responding officers remains our top priority,” police noted. “Additional updates will be released as information becomes available.”
