The Buffalo Bills are still rebuilding their defensive front.

Their latest addition comes with 21.5 career sacks and two Super Bowl rings.

Buffalo signed veteran outside linebacker Mike Danna to a one-year contract on Monday, the team announced. Cornerback MJ Devonshire was released in a corresponding move.

Danna, 28, spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he developed into a versatile defensive lineman and won two Super Bowls.

The Bills have spent much of the offseason reshaping their defensive front after moving on from veterans Joey Bosa and A.J. Epenesa. Buffalo signed two-time Pro Bowler Bradley Chubb in free agency and selected Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Danna entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick by Kansas City in 2020 after playing collegiately at Central Michigan and Michigan.

The 6-foot-2, 257-pounder has recorded 194 tackles, 21,5 sacks, 25 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles and an interception over 87 career NFL games, including 49 starts, His best season came in 2023, when he started 16 games and posted career highs with 6.5 sacks, 50 tackles and 13 quarterback hits while helping Kansas City win Super Bowl LVIII.

Danna made a strip sack on Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 26, 2025. He was released by the Chiefs on Feb. 24.

Danna’s road to the NFL was not a typical one.

After starring at Central Michigan, he transferred to Michigan for his final college season in 2019. Despite a productive year with the Wolverines, Danna was not invited to the NFL scouting combine and also lost his chance to participate in a pro day because of the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020.

Kansas City still drafted him in the fifth round, and Danna eventually became an important rotational piece for one of the NFL’s most successful defenses.

Bills release MJ Devonshire

To make room for Danna, the Bills released cornerback MJ Devonshire.

Devonshire spent one week on Buffalo’s practice squad before being released in December. He re-signed with the team a week later for the remainder of the season and signed a reserve/futures contract in January.
