Sherwin‑Williams, Goodyear and Kroger lead in Ohio’s most trustworthy companies list

Of the 700 companies featured, the highest‑ranking Ohio companies span a wide range of industries, including retail, food and manufacturing. The list is based on a large national survey and media sentiment analysis conducted with Statista. According to Newsweek, the ranking reflects a widening trust gap among consumers as brand skepticism grows.

Columbus and Cincinnati companies dominated the list, together accounting for nearly half of Ohio’s ranked companies.

Cleveland-based Sherwin‑Williams ranked No. 1 in Materials & Chemicals, while Cincinnati-based Kroger ranked No. 2 in Grocery & Convenience Stores. Goodyear, based in Akron, ranked No. 2 in Automotive & Components.

Procter & Gamble of Cincinnati and Cintas of Mason both placed fourth in their industries. Huntington Bank (Columbus) and Fifth Third Bank (Cincinnati) were also ranked among the top 25 banks nationwide, according to the report.

The Ohio companies include both public and private firms, with seven of the featured companies headquartered in Columbus, five in Cincinnati and one in Akron.

How Newsweek determined the list of Ohio’s most trustworthy companies

To determine the list, Newsweek considered U.S.‑headquartered companies with more than $500 million in revenue. The ranking was built on more than 100,000 trust evaluations from 25,000 U.S. residents. Public as well as private companies were eligible.

According to Newsweek, the overall score was composed of 80% from survey results, and 20% from social listening analysis, which analyzed media coverage and online discussion to assess whether public sentiment was positive, neutral or negative.
