Just after 8 p.m. April 27, officers responded to the 800 block of Carlysle Street for a reported shooting. Officers found a 24-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and chest. He was transported to Summa Health Akron by paramedics.

The victim said he was inside of a vehicle when shots were fired. A 17-year-old malewho was with him was not struck by gunfire but was transported to the hospital for a medical concern.

Detectives collected multiple shell casings from the scene and also discovered that two homes had been struck.

A short time later, a 20-year-old woman arrived at Summa with a gunshot wound to her foot. She reported that she was walking near North Howard Street and East Tallmadge Avenue when she heard gunfire. She was taken to the hospital by a friend.

Then at around 10 p.m., a third victim, a 17-year-old male, was transported to Summa after his mother found him with a gunshot wound to the neck inside their residence on Alfaretta Avenue.

Police say no suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing. Police don’t believe the three shootings were random and have no indication of a broader threat to the community.

In the same area, police earlier reported that two 14-year-old boys were shot April 24 while on the front porch of a home on West Salome Avenue near Carlysle Street.

Both teens were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital. One teen sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and the other suffered a gunshot wound in the pelvic area. Their injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, according to a police news release.

“Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the community,” an April 25 news release said.
