GREEN – The Akron-Canton Airport will celebrate its first American Airlines flight to Chicago on Oct. 6.
The airline will fly nonstop twice a day — in the morning and evening — to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. United Airlines currently operates the only service to Chicago from Akron-Canton.
The airport will host a gate party for travelers on the first flight at 6:30 a.m. with the plane departing at 7:45 a.m., according to a news release.
The route was among several new destinations announced this year.
