TEACHER FLEA – The ESC of Eastern Ohio plans its 2nd annual Teacher Flea from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at its office at 7320 N. Palmyra Road in Canfield. Educators can shop gently used and budget-friendly classroom materials, supplies, décor, books and manipulatives. Items will be sold by fellow teachers who are cleaning out their classrooms and closets ahead of the school year. “Teachers know what other teachers need,” said Staci Direnzo, director of pupil services and related services. “This is a unique way to support one another and share resources as we gear up for back-to-school.” Admission is free and open to all educators. ALLIANCE HOUSING – City of Alliance’s Housing Oversight Board will meet at 2 p.m. July 30 in the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St., second-floor conference room. Attendance at the meeting is limited to the first 40 people, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The meeting will be livestreamed with Zoom at this shortened URL, shorturl.at/YmGdc. Those who attend the meeting should note there is no open forum for the public to speak or for the committee to respond.
CARNATION FESTIVAL LUNCHEON – Tickets are still available for the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival’s Community Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at University of Mount Union’s Hoover Price Campus Center. Speaker will be 2000 Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Queen Dr. Maryam Jahdi. Jahdi is a graduate of Regena Coeli Elementary School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She is board certified in both general and forensic psychiatry. She currently works for the New York State Office of Mental Health as Assistant Director of Forensic Services at Bronx Psychiatric Center.
