On Monday, the chain’s store at 6075 Harrison Avenue in Green Township was the latest to run out of fuel. Multiple UDFs told The Enquirer they had in recent days run out of gas but now had it for sale again.

UDF stations report temporary fuel shortages

Store officials told customers the disruption would be temporary as the outlet receives regular fuel deliveries but offered no further details.

Customers posted over the weekend about stores in their neighborhoods running out of fuel, including in Fairfield, Mount Healthy, Harrison, and Hebron.

Customers encounter empty pumps across region

“How does a company like UDF run out of gas!!! UDF on Hamilton Avenue in Seven Hills is out of gas!!!,” read a Facebook post on Sunday.

A clerk at the UDF at 10811 Hamilton Ave. in Colerain Township in the Seven Hills area told The Enquirer that the store was out of gas all day Sunday but a truck refilled the station’s tanks early Monday morning. The clerk declined to give her name.

The Norwood-based company did not respond to multiple phone calls, texts and emails.

Drivers face higher costs in addition to spot shortages

The apparent shortages come at a time when gasoline prices continue to face upward pressure from global supply concerns amid the Iran war and ongoing negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

On Monday, gas prices in Cincinnati averaged $4.59 for a gallon of regular unleaded − down 20 cents from a week ago but up 73 cents from the same time last month, according to data from AAA.

Last week, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline rose 25 cents for the second consecutive week to $4.55, before edging down slightly to $4.52 on Monday, according to a separate report from GasBuddy..

National gas prices have reached their highest level since 2022, when the national average peaked at $5.01 per gallon, GasBuddy reported.
